Strong, local, on-site representation

On December 12 and 13 lab workers at St. Michael’s and St. Joseph’s will be voting to choose their union representation. The Public Sector Labour Relations Transition Act (PSLRTA) says that when public sector administrative units merge, there can be only one labour union representing workers.

LiUNA 3000 has a great track record representing lab workers at St. Michael’s. In a year, we had signed a collective agreement. And even before the agreement was in place, we gained a 2% wage increase across the board, forced the employer to create 15 new permanent full and part-time jobs, won back lost vacation for our members, secured standby pay and vacation increases for many of our members, and secured $71,000 in unpaid overtime.
