Rexall One walk to Conquer Cancer.
LiUNA Sisters participated in the Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer that takes place in the streets of Toronto. Every year thousands of walkers challenge themselves to walk and raise vital funds for cancer research and care at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. Our team raised $15,000 for this cause.

Bill 33 has become known as the Time To Care in Ontario. It is a private member’s bill introduced by Ontario NDP MPP France Gélinas. The bill has passed first and second reading in the Ontario Legislature and was ordered referred to the Standing Committee on General Government in November of last year.
If passed, Bill 33 (Time to Care Act) would amend the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, mandating at least four hours a day of nursing and personal support services per resident (averaged across the residents). Providence Manor, Kingston Ontario
In 2017, the Employer drastically reduced nursing care for residents in this long-term care facility creating unsafe working conditions for our members and the residents they care for. We organized an information picket protesting the care cuts to raise awareness in the community and media. As a result of the efforts of our union and members, a significant number of care hours are being restored.
